The Bicycle Fitter's mission is to make you as comfortable and powerful on
your bike as possible.
Changing the paradigm of how to fit riders to bikes. TBF starts with your body, not the bike. When a shop places you on a bike, the saddle, handlebars and cranks are fixed. Would the bars feel better higher or lower? Is this really my saddle height? There are questions not answered when you start with the bike.
How you feel on the bike is the focus with the F.I.S.T. fit system. Your body is placed where it feels comfortable in a dynamic pedaling environment. That equates directly to a better fit for more power, more endurance.
We all have walked into a bike shop with the intention of spending a lot of money to buy a bike and needed more confidence with the sales person. We ask what size bike we should buy.The answer is usually something very non technical and they will say .... throw your leg over the bike and then see if you can stand over the bar if you can stand over it with 1-3 inches of space thats a good fit. Maybe take a few measurements and look in a book to get what size you "need". Could this really be the method serious riders and the pros use to select a bike? Of course not.
When you spend a lot of money on a bike you need more information to make the best decision on what bike brand to buy let alone the proper bike size. What better than the inputs from your own body on a bike?
Bike shops have to be loyal to the brands they sell. There is a very high percentage that the brand they are selling doesn't fit your body as well as some other brand. Some shops even say on their website that they only fit to bikes they sell. They can use all the high tech equipment to impress you, then not tell you that there is a better fitting bike out there with your name on it.
After the bike selection you still need the bike fitted to you. We don't use KOPS, which is plum bobbing from a point on your knee down to the pedal axle. There is no basis of reason for the KOPS technique.
TBF can retrofit your existing road or tri bike or we can pick out your perfect new bicycle.
Using a fully adjustable "fit bike" you and TBF collaborate thru several fit trials. The feedback that the fit bike instantly gives you is a key element to help you make the choices right for you. So we can find your "points in space" down to the millimeter.
Notice TBF didn't say "find your frame size". Different manufacturers size their bikes differently, but the X and Y coordinates known as Reach and Stack are taken from the same points on every frame, the center of the bottom bracket and the top center of the head tube. The points of which a true fit is measured from.

Don't fall for Women's Specific Design (WSD). It places you over the bottom bracket and robs you of your leg power.
New riders tend to give up riding because of pain sometimes caused by an ill fitting bicycle. The first reason to get a bicycle fit is to prevent pain and injury. A bicycle fitter should take into consideration what the rider wants to get out of cycling and maybe add some training to the novice to improve the experience.
